Medicare Supplement

Predictable medical costs and flexibility

  • Monthly premium: $195 estimated, plus Medicare Part B and a separate Part D drug plan.
  • Doctors and hospitals: See any provider nationwide who accepts Medicare.
  • Medical expenses: Plan G covers most Original Medicare cost-sharing after you meet the annual Part B deductible.
  • Prescriptions: Enroll in a separate Part D plan.
  • Dental and vision: Generally require separate coverage.
  • Consider: Higher monthly premiums, but fewer out-of-pocket costs for Medicare-covered medical services.

Medicare Advantage

Lower plan premiums with pay-as-you-use medical costs

  • Monthly premium: Some plans have a $0 additional premium; you generally still pay Medicare Part B.
  • Doctors and hospitals: Provider networks and out-of-network coverage vary by plan.
  • Medical expenses: Copays and coinsurance may apply when you receive care.
  • Annual medical cost limit: Plans have an out-of-pocket maximum for covered Part A and Part B services; the amount varies.
  • Prescriptions: Most plans include Part D coverage.
  • Dental and vision: Some plans include additional benefits, subject to coverage limits.
  • Consider: Lower monthly plan premiums may come with higher costs when you need medical care.
